The Verum Scary Sharpening Set combines all the key components required for a fast, accurate and highly repeatable sharpening system. Built around our purpose-made polycarbonate plates and premium micro-finishing abrasives, it provides a reliable, flat and durable method for producing razor-sharp edges on plane blades, chisels and fine-edge tools.

At the heart of this system are our Scary Sharpening abrasive sheets, manufactured using heat-treated, P-grade Aluminium Oxide grains bonded to a strong polyester film with a high-quality PSA self-adhesive backing. Originally designed for the demanding micro-finishing processes used in metalworking—such as camshaft grinding—these sheets cut quickly, resist tearing, and last significantly longer than traditional lapping films used in fibre-optic polishing.

Our polycarbonate plates provide the ideal substrate for backing off newly ground blades or for producing finely honed, polished edges with confidence and consistency. Sized to accept one-third sheets, they allow efficient use of the abrasive films with minimal waste.

Completing the system is Verum Honing Fluid, a low-odour, low-viscosity formulation perfectly matched to lapping films and abrasive papers. It delivers a smooth sharpening action and helps extend the life of the abrasive. The included stay put matting ensures a stable, non-slip base while you work.
