Verum No. 62 Low Angle Jack Plane

The Verum No. 62 Low Angle Jack Plane is widely regarded as the “jack of all trades” for good reason. Lighter and more agile than longer jointers, yet more capable than a small smoother, it’s the plane you reach for to prepare stock, level surfaces, and shoot end grain with confidence. Camber a spare blade heavily and it behaves like a scrub for rapid removal of saw marks, cupping, or twist; fit a straight blade for fine finishing, panel work, or shooting.

Designed with Peter Sefton

Each Verum plane is the result of a collaboration between our manufacturer and Wood Workers Workshop’s owner, Peter Sefton — a master craftsman and long-time woodworking educator. His hands-on feedback shaped everything from blade geometry to the ergonomics of the handle and lever cap, producing a tool that’s truly made by woodworkers, for woodworkers.

Ergonomics & Comfort

Bubinga Tote & Balanced Feel
The crafted Bubinga handle and balanced centre of mass keep the plane planted yet agile, reducing fatigue across longer sessions.

Confident Grip
The brushed stainless steel lever cap offers a secure, tactile hold when taking fine shavings or heavier passes.

Blade Control & Adjustment

Norris-Style Adjuster
Combined lateral and depth control gives precise, repeatable settings with excellent stability — no drift, no frustration.

Adjustable Mouth
Open up for heavier cuts or close down tight to tame tricky, reversing grain and minimise tear-out.

Bevel-Up Versatility
Supplied at 25° (37° effective) for effortless end grain. Sharpen spare irons at 38° or 50° to achieve York (50°) and Cabinet (62°) pitches for wild, gnarly grain and final smoothing.

Build Quality & Performance

CR40 Ductile Iron Body
Stress-relieved and precision ground for flatness and rigidity that lasts.

T10 Carbon Steel Iron
Water-cooled and hardened to RC63 for a keen, durable edge that sharpens easily.

Lifetime Warranty
Every Verum plane is built to last a lifetime in the workshop — and our lifetime warranty backs that promise.
