Verum No. 5 Jack Plane

The Verum No. 5 Jack Plane is the workhorse of the bench — narrow enough for nimble handling yet long enough for accurate levelling. Its lighter weight and versatile setup make it perfect for timber preparation: with a heavily cambered blade it quickly removes saw marks, twist, or cup, while a slightly cambered blade allows for smoothing on larger projects. It’s equally at home preparing stock for a smoothing plane or performing groundwork before flattening with a longer fore or jointer plane — a true all-rounder.

Designed with Peter Sefton

Each Verum plane is the result of collaboration between our manufacturer and Wood Workers Workshop’s owner, Peter Sefton — a master craftsman and woodworking educator. His hands-on experience shaped every element from blade geometry to handle comfort, ensuring these planes are genuinely made by woodworkers, for woodworkers.

Ergonomics & Comfort

Bespoke Bubinga Handle
Designed by Peter Sefton, the ergonomic rear handle transfers power efficiently while keeping your hand relaxed and blister-free during long sessions.

Balanced Weight Distribution
Perfectly proportioned for control and accuracy across a wide range of planing tasks.

Blade Control & Adjustment

Oversized Adjuster Wheel
Makes fine-tuning easy — tweak blade depth with just a finger, mid-cut, without adjusting your grip.

Precision Lateral Adjuster
Tight-tolerance bearing and engineered brass tab ensure the blade stays exactly where you want it — no drift, no frustration.

Minimal Setup Required
Every plane is assembled with precision-machined parts, allowing you to start work immediately without a lengthy fettling process.

Build Quality & Performance

Superior Bedrock Frog Design
Provides full support to the blade and allows mouth adjustment without removing the iron — for faster, damage-free setup. The tight tolerance between frog and body eliminates chatter for a cleaner finish.

3mm Low Profile Cap Iron (Chip Breaker)
Reduces vibration, supports the blade edge, and curls shavings away for a flawless surface.

T10 Carbon Steel Blade
Holds a razor-sharp edge and sharpens easily — water-cooled and hardened to RC63 for lasting performance.

Lifetime Warranty
Built to last for decades in the workshop — backed by our lifetime guarantee
