Verum Low Angle Block Plane

The Verum Low Angle Block Plane excels at one-handed end-grain planing and trimming with the grain for a flawless finish — a must-have for any woodworker’s toolkit. Its weight, balance, and short sole make it agile and versatile, equally at home on chamfers, flush-trimming joints, smoothing, or taming difficult timbers.

Designed with Peter Sefton

Each Verum plane is created in collaboration with Wood Workers Workshop’s owner, Peter Sefton — a master craftsman and woodworking educator. His hands-on experience has influenced every design choice, from the bedding angle and blade geometry to the ergonomics of the cap and body. The result is a block plane that feels like a natural extension of your hand, offering control and accuracy in every stroke.

Ergonomics & Comfort

Compact & Balanced
The short sole and 790g weight make the plane agile yet stable, sitting comfortably in the palm for extended one-handed use.

Polished Bronze Cap
The bronze cap, combined with side dimples for thumb and finger placement, provides a secure and tactile grip for confident control.

Blade Control & Adjustment

Low Angle Versatility
The 12° bedding angle and 25° sharpened blade combine for a 37° effective ultra-low cutting angle — perfect for end grain. Additional 25° blades available for sharpening at York (50°) and Cabinet (62°) pitches, for working difficult or figured timbers.

Fine Adjustable Mouth
Allows precise control of shaving thickness, from fine finishing cuts to heavier stock removal.

Build Quality & Performance

Precision Cast Body
Made from CR40 ductile iron, stress-relieved and precision ground for stability and accuracy.

T10 Carbon Steel Blade
Hardened to RC60-63, the 35mm wide blade offers excellent sharpness and edge retention for consistent, clean shavings.
